About Wimbledon No. 1 Court:

Wimbledon Tennis is synonymous with elegance and tradition, not just in the sport but also in its rich artistic culture. From the meticulously maintained lawns to the ivy-clad facades of the courts, the grounds themselves are a living piece of art. 


At its heart is No. 1 Court, an iconic venue renowned for its electrifying atmosphere and architectural elegance. Opened in 1997, No. 1 Court has a seating capacity of over 12,000, providing spectators with an intimate yet grand experience. Its retractable roof, added in 2019, ensures that matches continue regardless of the weather, enhancing the viewer experience.


The court has witnessed numerous historic moments, including thrilling five-set matches and remarkable upsets. Beyond the tennis, the court's design reflects Wimbledon's commitment to blending tradition with innovation, featuring a lush green setting and state-of-the-art facilities.
